Girls' Owl Birthday Party (part 1)

This past Saturday we had Braylee and Sadie's birthday party. Which happened to be the day Tropical Storm Lee hit.  It rained ALL DAY!!!  I am so glad I decided to have an inside party this year. The past 2 years I have had Braylee's parties outside. But I knew I wanted to have a inside owl party the moment I bought Braylee's Owl bedding,  I had SOOO much fun planning it. I can't believe it has already come and gone.  I made most everything myself (with the help of my mom) so I starting working on it 2 months before the party.

I made the tissue paper pompoms and the dot garland. I used a 2" hole punch to cut out the circles. Then I used Rusty's fishing wire and just taped the circles on the wire. I also made the banner.

My mom found that cute owl at Marshall's. It was brown so she painted it pink.   I made the cake plates with those ugly stove toppers and candle sticks I got at the Dollar Store. Then I used E-6000 to glue them together. After it dried I spray painted them light pink. I was very pleased how they turned out and they only cost me $6 for 4 of them.  I found lollipops at the Dollar Store for only $.50 each.  They were Halloween colors so I just covered them in tissue paper and put a sticker I made on them. I didn't want to spend $2.50 on the pink ones at the candy store.

I also made the cupcakes and cupcake toppers. I found the owl clip art of etsy and used paint.net to make everything even the invitation.

My mom and I made the cakes. Well she did most of it. I just baked the cakes!! She made the fondant owl on top and the flowers. We are definitely just learning. This was our first time to try fondant.  My mom did an awesome job.

I made the fabric bunting and painted Braylee & Sadie a picture frame for the presents tables.  For the bunting I just found coordinating fabric and cut it out. Then I used fabric glue to clue the fabric on the ribbon. I found the picture frames in the wood section in Hobby Lobby.  I put these in their room.

My mom made the owl pillowcase dresses they wore at the party and I bought the Owl Smocked dresses they wore in the pictures from The Princess and the Pea on Facebook found here

I found this Owl pinata' online found here

I also made her High Chair banner and Sadie's party hat. You will notice the big Owl in the back. I was going to have the kids play pin the feather on the owl but we had a Tropical Storm hit the day of the party and I wasn't sure how many people would come. So I just used it for decoration. My sister painted it for me.

My sweet mom made the flower arrangements for their Birthday dinner a couple of nights prior. So I used them has my centerpieces on the tables.

Photo booth props & party favors

For the party favors, I put gummy worms for the older kids and animal crackers for the younger ones in cellophane bags. Then I cut out an owl that I just freehanded and taped them on it. I used stickers that I made to close the bag.

One of my favorite parts was the photo booth.  I just LOVE this picture of Braylee!!

XOXOXO
Ashley
