Trash to Treasure.. My new kitchen table

A few weeks ago my father in law found a table on the side of the road. He knew I was wanted a new table so he got it off the side of the road for me.  He told me if I didn't want it he was sure we could find someone who needed  a table.  Well I actually liked it, well the design of it.  I needed to do some work for it to fit my style.
So I got to work and sanded the whole thing down, then I primed the base with spray paint.  I forgot how much hard work sanding furniture is.  I thought I would try a cream color base and stain the top darker.
Well that didnt work out. It looked more country than it did at the beginning. The stain looked much darker on the can. To me it looked like the same color. So I started over. This time I just sanded the top and went to the paint store and actually talked to someone this time. I got a much darker stain and a blue color spray paint.

So here is my almost finished table. I LOVE it except the top is too shiny for the look I want so this week I will be sanding the top down for a third time and restaining it.  Hopefully it will turn out how I want it to.

So far I have spend about $20 in stain and $8 in spray paint.  Not too bad I would say.

Next project: CHAIRS.   Hopefully I will get them done this week and then I will tell you all about them.  I am so excited about how it will all turn out.
